Homodeus - a non plausible interpretation
The 7 drawings from the series that we present in the exhibition “Homodeus - a non plausible interpretation” are part of a pivotal set of formal experiments and development of João Cardoso's conceptual language towards more detailed visual universes.
The central body of identity of João Cardoso's work and concerns remains.
These works are quick records in a peculiar material that was little tamed by Cardoso and are therefore valuable for the suddenness of the energy of the moment and the clues thrown at the future.
This set of drawings marks an evolutionary turning point, which has manifested itself in the development through direct transposition in some oil works and in all works produced to date, since this summer of 2023. There is a before and an after of Homodeus.

El cuerpo central de identidad de la obra y las preocupaciones de João Cardoso permanece.
Estas obras son registros rápidos de un material peculiar que fue poco domado por Cardoso y, por lo tanto, son valiosos por lo repentino de la energía del momento y las pistas arrojadas al futuro.
Este conjunto de dibujos marca un punto de inflexión evolutivo, que se ha manifestado en el desarrollo mediante transposición directa en algunas obras al óleo y en todas las obras producidas hasta la fecha, desde este verano de 2023. Hay un antes y un después de Homodeus.

The walk in the desert is normally referenced as a religious path taken for transformation and maturity. Machine therefore have to constantly try and do the crossing to the other side of the desert but many will be digging in sand.
SP | Normalmente se hace referencia al paseo por el desierto como un camino religioso que se toma hacia la transformación y la madurez. Por lo tanto, las máquinas tienen que intentar constantemente cruzar al otro lado del desierto, pero muchas cavarán en la arena.

How dependent on electricity are we becoming? In the future that can translates to fully electrical bodies sipping on plugs to feed themselves.
SP | ¿Cuán dependientes nos estamos volviendo de la electricidad? En el futuro, esto se traducirá en cuerpos totalmente eléctricos que se alimentan de enchufes.

The work is based on the misconception that many problems of the past are still relevant when they are not.

A little satire about mechanical bodies. Energy conducted bodies that will attract dust and hair. The roller is used as the testimonial from the past that solves mundane problems.
SP | Una pequeña sátira sobre los cuerpos mecánicos. Cuerpos conducidos por energía que atraerán polvo y cabello. El rodillo se utiliza como testimonio del pasado que resuelve problemas mundanos.
