Paloma López
Spain
Paloma is an artist whose practice focuses on the investigation of cement as a plastic medium. Her work begins with the use of construction materials—especially cements and mortars—exploring their potential from a formal, structural, and chromatic perspective.
Through a rigorous approach to material, Paloma - also known as “Palo”- has developed a personal palette based exclusively on shades of grey. Without using added pigments, she achieves tonal variations through mixtures, ratios, textures, and finishes. This technical focus allows her to produce works with strong material presence, where surface, weight, and density play a central role.
Paloma López production spans both sculptural and two-dimensional formats, always in dialogue with architectural language. The compositions are characterized by geometric synthesis and abstract gestures, along with meticulous attention to the constructive process of each piece. Her work seeks to offer new readings of materials typically associated with industrial use, highlighting their expressive potential.
