One cannot think about the future without considering the past. This series is called Attic - the place we keep our memories, the museum and archive of the house. The place of dreams, closer to the sky. As Gaston Bachelard puts it in his book “Poetics of Space” (1994, p. 18): “The dreamer constructs and reconstructs the upper stories and the attic until they are well constructed. And (…) when we dream of the heights we are in the rational zone of intellectualized projects.”

Attic connects a person’s childhood dreams with adult complacency by creating a bridge between images that belong to a children’s imagery together with images of quotidian adult life.

We can find together an image of the rainbow fish plush with a raw fish, bubbles with sweets; There are interpretations of lucky symbols, such as a ladybug or a four leaf clover, with a cattle marking tool that resembles a clover; A costume of a lion that is paired with a lion tile and a series of sculptures with the symbolism to protect the house; A traditional Portuguese doll of a musician you’ll find in most Portuguese houses and its influence outside of imagination, instruments from a philharmonic band.
